Some moments change everything. The night your child was born, the evening you said "I do," or that first night that marked the beginning of forever. The sky at that moment was unique – the stars aligned in a way that will never be precisely repeated. A star map captures that very sky and turns it into a work of art.
What is a star map?
A star map (sometimes called a star sky poster) shows the night sky exactly as it appeared at a specific date, time, and location. The stars, constellations, and their positions are calculated astronomically – it's not a decorative random sky, but your actual sky. The result is a stylish, almost graphic print that holds a secret: only you know which moment it depicts.
Moments that deserve their own sky
Almost all major life events have a night sky. The most common moments our customers choose:
- The night a child was born – with name, date, and place of birth
- Wedding night or engagement evening
- The night you met – the evening where it all began
- An anniversary, graduation, or a big move in life
- A memorial print for someone who meant a lot

How to design your star map
Everything happens directly in the editor in just a few minutes:
- Choose date and time – the sky is recalculated instantly when you make changes.
- Search for the location – city or exact address, anywhere in the world.
- Choose style – classic star circle on a light background, dark midnight poster, or a full-coverage sky where the stars fill the entire print.
- Add your words – name, date, coordinates, and your own line are included automatically and can be freely edited.
Is the sky real?
Yes – and that's what distinguishes a good star map from a pretty random image. The sky on your print is calculated astronomically based on date, time, and location, with correct time zone and daylight saving time. The size of the stars follows their actual brightness: Sirius shines brightest, the faintest stars are just as discreet as in reality. Constellation lines show the 88 constellations, and east is to the left – the same convention as all real star maps, as you are looking up at the sky. Anyone familiar with the night sky will recognize it.
Classic circle or full-coverage sky
The classic version shows the sky as a circle – clean, graphic, and timeless. If you want something more dramatic, there are full-coverage styles where the night sky fills every centimeter of the print and the text rests directly among the stars. In between, there are dark midnight posters, deep wine red and forest green tones, a light inverted version, and a romantic handwritten style. A total of ten styles – the same sky, completely different feel.

The star map as a gift
It's hard to find a more personal gift than someone's own sky. For new parents, the stars of the birth night become a natural part of the nursery. For your partner, there's a special version built around the night you met – with space for your names and your own line of love.

Material and size
Star maps look great in all our materials – poster with or without a frame, canvas for a softer surface, or metal and plexiglass where the dark sky gets a particularly deep and luminous quality. Sizes from 13x18 cm up to 70x100 cm; for bedrooms and living rooms, 50x70 cm in a black frame is the obvious classic.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to know the exact time?
No. If you just choose the evening – for example, 10:00 PM – you'll get the characteristic sky of that night. The exact time fine-tunes the rotation, but the constellations for the night will still be recognizable.
Does it work for locations outside Sweden?
Yes, any location in the world. The sky is calculated correctly even for the Southern Hemisphere.
What are the constellation lines and the grid?
The constellation lines connect the constellations; the grid consists of the sky's coordinate lines. Both can be turned on and off in the editor until the print feels right.
Can I write my own texts?
Yes – name, date, location, and your own line. Everything can be edited, and the date and coordinates update automatically when you change the moment.
A certain night, a certain place, a sky that never repeats. Now it can hang on your wall.
